Mommy, make it go away!
It turns out that, as children, both
Ben and I were terrified of crucks -- you know, that horrible car/truck combination Chevy called an El Camino.
When spotting one, Ben went only so far as averting his eyes. I, however, found the need to hide in the foot space in front of my seat. Kind of like the pot calling the kettle black when, in the mid-80s, my family's car was a '72 Buick Skylark.
Other things I was afraid of:
- Driving on the freeway
- Rembrandt's The Night Watch
- Dogs
- The opening to Hart to Hart (especially the part when Max says "Murder")
- The Tiki drums in The Tiki Room

Are you kidding? These things rock! The ultimate lifestyle vehicle!
Dude... how could you fear one of the greatest vehicles of all time? Were you also afraid of the Subaru Brat?
A friend of mine in high school had an El Camino. For his birthday, I (somewhat poorly) airbrushed flames on it and a big devil head on the hood. It became legendary, known as the Hell Camino. Awww yeah.
My parents had one for a while. It was "The Gentleman's Pickup."
Maybe you saw a clown driving around in one when you were very young that scarred you for life?
I was afraid of dogs, too. Still am. But now you are a dog owner so you must have overcome that particular fear. I, on the other hand, have four cats, because that's how I roll.
The "Hell Camino"-that's awesome. That's like something out of "Dazed & Confused"-and I can give no bigger compliment. Speaking of movies, that's one I would like to see on the big screen-in an altered state of mind, with a theatre full of people also in an altered state of mind.

Heck yeah... I just Netflixed D&C recently and that movie just gets better with age.
Man, you're about to get some therapy for your fear of dogs BIG TIME.
Yeah, D&C is pure genius. It's the movie I've seen most in my life (even more than the original Star Wars) and never gotten tired of. I read an interview with Richard Linklater where he actually threw around the idea of making a sequel-if Kevin Smith can make a sequel twelve years later to "Clerks", why not "Dazed & Confused"?

TIKI GODS! I wasn't afraid of the drums necessarily, but if I sat too close to the totem poles, I was convinced one of them would take a bite out of me.
