Vox Hunt: Man, That's Steep

Comments

Holy crap. I zoomed in and can see people walking up that narrow part. Looks like you were the sane one in the group. Cool picture, too.
Holy crap. From your description of the hellish hike, I wasn't sure exactly how steep it really was and how steep it seemed based on a fear of heights. That is crazy looking and I don't have a fear of heights. That makes the Half Dome cables look like a walk in the park.

weaksauce. no height more daring than the precipice of a company headed for the stars. sky dayton would've gone*.

*i have no idea if sky dayton would've gone. in fact, i think i hate sky dayton but i like saying his name.
There are metal chains along the way, but I'm not sure they're ovely helpful. This looks like about as far we got when I was there. I felt bad making others in the group wait for me, otherwise I would have probably made it to the end.

Angel's Landing is beautiful! Up until very recently I live only about 10 miles from the place. I love it and hope you enjoyed it!

You didn't happen to stop in Kanab while you were up that way did you? That's my old home town!

Beautiful picture.
Wow. I hiked out to Angel's Landing once about 10 years ago. I remember being scared, but I'd forgotten how crazy the trail looks.

One thing that really got to me was all the chipmunks up there scavenging for dropped food. Those little critters would run like little madmen any time they saw a tidbit hit the dirt. Then they'd grab it and move out of view, and by that I mean it looked to me like they were leaping off the cliff with the kind of total confidence James Bond employs during the opening credits. I'm sure they were just headed for some slightly lower ledge that I'd have seen if I were tiny and not afraid of looking over the edge.
