Here's a video that's been linked on my LiveJournal for quite some time and with the integration of YouTube, I figured it would be nice to migrate it over to Comet.
Enjoy this video of Ben trying to tell our taxi driver in Tokyo how to get back to our hotel.
Note, in Tokyo there is no real easy way to give someone an address. There aren't addresses as we know them in the United States. Instead, you've got to sort of give landmarks, streets and directions. Enjoy.
When we were in Japan -- actually the last day we were in Japan -- Nintendo released the DS Lite. I had planned to buy one on our way to the airport so we headed to Bic Camera despite rumors that they were already sold out. When we got to the store, we noticed a long line outside with people all holding pieces of paper. Ben assumed that they had reserved their DSs or that they had already purchased them inside. After unsuccessfully scanning the line for someone that looked like they might speak English (American), we headed into the store to see if we could purchase one.
After walking around for quite some time, I got the nerve to ask a clerk if I could buy a DS. This was after I had said my eloquent "Eigo? Eigo?".
No one understood what I was saying so they directed me to the clerk who spoke English. He didn't speak English, but he apparently read English so he gave me a piece of paper to write what I needed.
After looking at my sad-ass piece of paper, he took it to another clerk who then told him to say "sold out."
Very disappointing. I still need to purchase one since Ben is at his wit's end after my usurpation of his DS.
